Whether students are engaging in new age occultism, identify as LGBTQ, living in isolation, depression or anxiety, the next generation is hungry for something beyond what they see online and offline. They are after relationship, not religion, just like the woman at the well, they deserve to be met where they are at, shown love and compassion, and invited to know Jesus for themselves. We know wells of revival have sprung up at UC Berkeley and we believe God desires to do it again, which ever way He wants to. But I deeply believe radical hospitality, authentic relationships in Kingdom family (multigenerational), and reproducible discipleship is at the center of God's heart and His heart for this generation.
Isatel, raised in Southern California, grew up in church but lacked a personal relationship with God. In college, she turned to partying, drinking, and casually sleeping with men and women to cope with past trauma. In 2009, after 7 long years of running away from God, she hit her absolute breaking point and soon ran into the arms of her loving Abba. Six months later, God revealed His vision for a global college women’s movement—a Christ-centered alternative to sororities, focused on experiencing His love in a real, authentic way. While the movement aims to share the Gospel with all college students, Isatel is particularly passionate about evangelizing and discipling young women.
She believes that God has revealed three core aspects of what many students are seeking, usually outside of Jesus. Identity, Intimacy & Inheritance and longs to help students discover these beyond measure in their relationship with Jesus.
According to research from Barna, most are open and desire to discuss Jesus and faith but it must be in a non-judgemental atmosphere where they are not forced to make a definitive decision at the moment. Relational, long-term evangelism is needed to build bridges to students and show them the true fruits of His spirit in a practical way.
According to a study by the Office of the Chancellor, 2 out of every 3 students face debilitating depression with 60% of students facing anxiety due to the high pressure culture.
While there are great fellowships on campus, we sense a need for greater equipping and support for authentic, relational evangelism, bringing unity in prayer and intercession, deeper encounters of God's love, and reproducible discipleship as a part of our everyday lives.
There is long term vision for a Christ-centered discipleship home, including a prayer room, a space to host students with radical hospitality, and a place for young women to live in community with others as they pursue more of God and encounter His love and calling for them.
Every revival recorded in history first started in prayer. We desire to unite the body, of all ages and stages, to come together in prayer for God to move powerfully on campus, to prepare the hearts and the laborers.
I hope to mobilize enough students and resources to pioneer a twice a week Coffee & Connection Table on campus where we can provide free coffee with the message that Jesus loves them, and be available to listen to, encourage, pray for and share the Gospel with students in a practical way. Our goal for the 2025-2026 school year is to have 5,000 opportunities to have conversations where others can encounter the love of Jesus through a free cup of coffee.
Creating spaces for intentional, life on life discipleship just as Jesus modeled. Discipleship homes where we can be an Acts 2 Community and inviting trusted spiritual mothers and fathers to help model Kingdom family to this next generation.
